At the Freeride LAB, Creux Noirs, you’ll find the ultimate powdery ski spot for free-rando enthusiasts of all levels. If you want to enjoy an idyllic setting and snow that’s simply the best – then this is for you.
To start, you need to take a few steps: Either use a free-rando (ski tour) climb track or walk for about 600m to a height of 100m where you’ll discover a protected site that’s well worth the effort to reach: The mountain cirque (natural amphitheatre) is magnificent, the panorama is unique: the views are uplifting.
Beginners have a choice of two slopes (one red and one black) which are ungroomed, but secure. It’s best to go the day after fresh snowfall when these unmissable slopes are just perfect for all-terrain skiers.
Experienced skiers who are properly equipped (DVA (avalanche safety kit), shovel, probe...) and accompanied by a professional, can discover a wild area full of fantastic slopes: A north-facing slope, the base of the impressive Aiguille du Fruit, the Vanoise National Park... And for even more security, a "check arva" (avalanche transceiver) has been installed at the summit: it beeps as you approach so that you know your equipment is functioning.
In the mountains, safety is everyone's business, the area is also equipped with a DVA park for off-piste safety lessons at the base of the uphill track.
At the start of two downhill runs, a giant picture frame has been installed so you can take a dream photo in front of the Grande Casse, the highest peak of Savoie – perfect for sharing on Instagram.
Access: Vizelle gondola, Saulire cable car, Marmottes and Vizelle chairlifts. From the blue track of Les Creuxs, turn right towards Mottaret, to discover the Freeride Lab module on your left.
