Courchevel and the 2023 Alpine Ski World Championships
Since its creation, Courchevel has always been the capital of alpine skiing and a winter sports pioneer. Host of major events, the resort is a place of effervescence, where international and local champions race on its slopes.
In 2023, in partnership with Méribel, Courchevel will welcome the next Alpine Ski World Championships. An opportunity for us to present this major event.
As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day". A saying that can be perfectly applied to an alpine ski competition of this scale. Its organization extends over several years and brings with it projects that mark the history of a ski resort.
In February 2020, in Courchevel Le Praz, the Alpinium is inaugurated. This 18,000 m² multi-service building includes a 500-space covered parking lot, the offices of the Alpine Skiing Event Organizing Committee and the departure station of a new gondola lift linking Courchevel Le Praz to Courchevel 1850 in less than 6 minutes. In addition, the roof of this infrastructure will be the finish area of the ski run specially designed for the competitions, the Eclipse.
Two thirds of the track follow the old Jockeys ski run and part of the old Bouc Blanc slope, its profile promises to become part of the legend of the skiing world. With a length of 3.2 km, an average slope of 30% and a vertical drop of 970m, between forest sections and portions offering a clear view of the surrounding landscape, the Eclipse will soon be part of Courchevel's epic story. A new challenge for skiers, both professionals and experienced amateurs.
The Championships will be held from February 6th to 19th, 2023 and will include 12 races. Spectators will be able to experience a real festive moment, since, in addition to the sporting event, there will be entertainments and concerts throughout the two days of competition. The promise of a spectacular stay in the mountains!
We are proud to carry the colors of our resort and to host a major event in the world of alpine skiing.
